Councilmembers at The Village of Key Biscayne voted to award the Village Green project to EasyGrass LLC. The initiative involves the installation of 111,924 sq. ft. of artificial turf onto the park’s sports fields.
Located at 400 Crandon Park, Village Green is the heart of the Key Biscayne community’s outdoor activities. This 9.5-acre park is composed of multi-use open fields, a half-mile jogging course, a tot lot with interactive splash fountain, a community bandstand, restrooms, a small shade pavilion, a bricked promenade with a large fountain, and trees throughout the area.
Officials from the Parks and Recreation department, accompanied by several young athletes, visited various parks and sports fields in the region to research the artificial turf option and the EasyGrass system.
The Village Green project centers around two playing fields (see image), where a $312,000 natural grass rehabilitation effort had recently failed. The installation of the EasyGrass artificial turf system will be completed in time for the fall youth sports season.
